What It Really Takes to Trust in Relationships

21 July 2026

Most of us try to create trust by controlling uncertainty—working harder, staying vigilant, reading people better. But those strategies are often the very thing keeping us stuck.

In this episode, I share a live call from inside ERA (the Embodied Relationship Academy) where we explore a different approach to trust – and the quality of attention that takes you there.

A lot of anxiety and relationship pain is not caused by “bad circumstances” but by protector parts running the show.

When protectors are in charge, the world feels fundamentally unsafe: I can’t trust anyone, it’s all on me, I have to work hard to be safe, to heal, to keep love from falling apart. The turning point we explore is building trust that is not dependent on other people behaving perfectly, but on finding a stable inner place beneath the reactions.

I guide you through a simple method to access that place of trust inside you. Just like focused eyesight strains and “daydream eyes” relax, your attention can clench around one thought or sensation, then soften into open awareness that includes the whole field. That open focus becomes the place you can meet wounded parts from, without spiritual bypassing.

Perhaps the biggest shift is realizing that healing isn’t about escaping your humanity. It’s about bringing a deeper quality of awareness to every part of it. The fear doesn’t have to disappear before trust becomes possible. Your relationship to it is what changes.
