Why are you doing all the inner work? To be free from anxiety? To heal an emotional wound? To know who you are and what you want? To end the constant mind chatter and inner criticism? To end suffering?
I know that’s how it started for me, and I couldn’t wait to become more spiritual and enlightened and leave my messy human behind. But somewhere along the road, I had the experience that this human is born from the lovemaking between consciousness and life itself, and that the most fascinating, expansive, and blissful experience I could have right now is happening AS this human.
That’s when I stopped trying to become something else and really started having the experience of this human. With all her limitations, longings, and fears. I started to love her. To rest in the heart of being, right here inside of her. Also in the midst of friction, heartache and pain.
So what if some of the reasons you’re doing inner work is because of lies you’ve been told about who you need to be? What if your pain, inner conflict, and wounds are actually here to show the way home? To show you a bigger way to love.
That’s exactly what we explore in this second episode with Chris Bale on the podcast (ep 64 from a year ago is one of the most listened to). We look at the misconception of having to become someone or do something, while you’re missing the fascinating experience of being human.
Chris is a spiritual mentor, intimacy coach, and energy worker who has deeply inspired me to fall in love with my human and feel deeper than ever before.
In this slow-food-for-the-soul conversation, we explore the potency in listening, how uncomfortableness is here to set us free, our fear of death, our addiction to sparkly spiritual band-aids, and more.

Some of what we touch on in this episode:
- We’re the lovemaking between spirit and consciousness. If we don’t have our attention there – what are we doing?
- We’re orgasmic creatures and the more heady we become the more we starve
- Relationships as your mirror of your own relationship with life.
- Uncomfortableness is not here to hurt or harm us, it’s here to set us free
- We’re death and orgasmicness, safety is a delusion. The truest safety is the lack of safety.
- Our inclination for sparkly spiritual band-aids
- You’re already spirit, you’re here to be human
- The lie that we need to be here and do something. We were already whole when we arrived.
- When we’re present we move purposefully
- We have to continuously bash up against misalignment to be woken up by the pain that comes from being misaligned
- How to bring connection in your relationship
